About Me

On a mission to nourish minds and alleviate hunger

I believe in the power of storytelling to spark imagination, forge meaningful connections, and inspire empathy. My storytelling will help others understand more about food insecurity and how to support our neighbors in need.

What Matters to Me

Rescuing Food

As the Kitchen Manager for Second Chance Foods (www.secondchancefoods.org), we use surplus food that would have been wasted to create nutritious meals for community members in need.

Teaching

I taught writing and literature classes at a community college and state university. I also worked as an academic administrator at the community college.

Homeschooling

We “took the road less traveled by” when educating our
son, and that “made all the difference!” (From Road Less
Traveled by Robert Frost)

Storytelling

Sharing the stories of food rescue with younger readers
empowers them to help anyone who experiences food
insecurity and hunger.

Being part of Kathryn’s food rescue initiative has been life-changing. Every meal we save isn’t just food; it’s hope. I’ve seen children’s eyes light up when they receive a warm plate. It’s not charity; it’s humanity.

Maya Santos

Kathryn’s blogs inspire action. They’re not just words; they’re catalysts for change. Her commitment to food security is contagious. I’ve learned that small acts—like sharing a blog post—can create ripples of awareness.

Jake Paulin

As a chef, I’ve always loved creating flavors. But working with Kathryn showed me that food isn’t just about taste; it’s about impact. Her storytelling brings out the soul behind every dish. Now, I cook with purpose.

Nick Adalman

Kathryn’s community gatherings are my favorite. We discuss food, share recipes, and learn about sustainability. It’s more than a blog; it’s a movement. I’ve made friends and found purpose—all over a cup of coffee.
