Stories can plant seeds.
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, I’ll be attending the Poughkeepsie Children’s Book Festival — a gathering of readers, educators, librarians, and authors who believe children’s books can shape how young people see their world.
Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: Dutchess Community College, Falcon Hall
Free Parking: Lot A and Lot D
I’m honored to be part of it.
Bringing A Rescue Feast to Poughkeepsie
I’ll be sharing A Rescue Feast, a picture book inspired by my work rescuing surplus food and transforming it into meals for families navigating food insecurity.
In the story, Billy and Grandpoppy save storm-threatened tomatoes and turn them into something that nourishes their community. Along the way, young readers explore:
- Seed germination and plant life cycles
- Sustainability and food waste
- Intergenerational connection
- Compassion in action
Rescue. Grow. Share.
Why This Festival Matters
Children’s book festivals matter because they bring stories into the same room as the people who need them.
They connect:
- Authors with young readers
- Classrooms with ideas
- Families with meaningful conversation
In a world full of noise, there’s something powerful about gathering around a book.
If You’re Attending
Stop by and say Hello!
Let’s talk about:
- Food rescue and sustainability
- STEM + SEL connections in picture books
- School visits and classroom integration
- Or the story that shaped you when you were young
One small rescue can make a big difference.
I’ll see you in Poughkeepsie.
